Three Things Thursday

1. I had coffee with the lovely Kelli from Howdy from New York City last night. Yes, she is just as gorgeous and friendly in person and it’s so nice to meet a new friend in this city!

She is planning her wedding AND training for her first half marathon this May! So exciting!

2. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned something on this here blog about one frugal way I’ve been living. When I moved into my apartment, I didn’t have any furniture. After paying the deposit and first month’s rent and moving fees etc, my savings was pretty bare boned. Instead of shelling out money for a real bed, I bought an Aerobed. I wasn’t planning on staying very long so moving a bed back home was just pointless in my mind. (But dropping $200 on an Aerobed was apparently justified.) Well about two weeks ago a tiny hole appeared in the bed and it constantly deflated the bed, despite duct taped efforts. This past week and a half I slept on a deflated air mattress with couch cushions underneath it.

Deflated air mattress :/

My new (cheaper) air mattress arrived last night and I am one happy camper to have a “regular” bed again!

One day a real mattress is considered normal for me, not just a treat. Until then, I am thrilled to have a comfortable bed and hopefully it lasts longer.

3. Yesterday the security man at my office asked me if I had been going to the gym. When I responded “yes”, he told me I am “slimming down”. Why thank you security man! Yesterday was a pretty great day.

your security guard is awesome! hahaha i totally slept on an air mattress when i lived in denver… and it deflated around me every.single.night. so i'd have to always make sure i pumped it up early in the evening with my super loud pump, because if i waited too long and the neighbors might be sleeping, i had to sleep on a partially inflated mattress šŸ˜› don't miss those days!… oh wait, that'll be me in new york again šŸ™‚

Interesting timing on your meet up. I just met a fellow blogger in Heidelberg the night before last. (She's originally from Germany but now lives in NYC and was back visiting friends and family). When I first moved to FL my only furniture for a long time was an air mattress. I'm not sure what budget you're looking at when you get a real one, but I got a Bed in the Box memory foam one. It was about half the price of Temperpedic and is still holding up and is soo comfortable. We had temporary furniture while our stuff was being shipped over and it was like sleeping on wood by comparison. So happy to have my comfy bed back.Hurray for random compliments.

Tell me what you want, what you really really want!
